Date Night

We put our phones away for one night.

Things got interesting.

It sounds so small that it's almost embarrassing to write down: we put our phones in a drawer for one evening.

No notifications. No scrolling. No Netflix autoplay deciding what happened next.

The first half hour was genuinely uncomfortable. We both kept reaching for a pocket that wasn't there. There was a silence that, at first, felt like something needed filling.

Then something shifted. We started actually talking — not about bins or work or whose turn it was to call the plumber, but the kind of conversation you have early on, when you're still curious about each other.

We lit a candle because it felt like the occasion called for one. We put a record on. We noticed each other, which sounds obvious, but when was the last time you really did?

We're not going to pretend one phone-free night fixed everything. But it reminded us that most of our evenings weren't boring because of us. They were boring because we'd handed them over to a screen.

Try it once. Put them in a drawer. See what fills the space.

Trying Something New

The do not disturb sign.

One night away, no itinerary.

We booked a hotel twenty minutes from home. No sightseeing, no dinner reservation. Just a door, a sign, and a promise to stay in.

Funny & Awkward

We built a blanket fort. We're in our thirties.

It was the best night we'd had in months.

One rainy Saturday, a broken boiler and a pile of duvets turned into the most ridiculous, most fun night we've had in ages.

Experiences

Our first mystery box.

Turns out, not knowing was the best part.

We thought the products would be the exciting bit. We were wrong. The anticipation started long before we opened it.
