Before

We have talked about what we each want, and what we don't.
Limits are agreed, including any hard no's.
We have a safeword and a non-verbal stop signal.
Nobody is affected by alcohol, drugs or tiredness.
Equipment is suitable, clean and checked against the maker's instructions.
Safety scissors are within reach if any restraint is used.
We know anyone can stop at any time, for any reason.

During

Check in with each other regularly.
Nothing goes near the neck and breathing is never restricted.
Check hands and feet for numbness, tingling, coldness or colour change.
Stop straight away if someone uses the safeword or signal.

After

Release any restraint and check for marks or discomfort.
Water, warmth and a little time together.
Talk about what felt good and what didn't.
Check in again the next day.
If anyone is hurt or unwell, get medical help. In an emergency call 999.
